COVID-10 Phases

Phase 1 – Closed

  • Library closed to public.
  • Staff working at library or from home.
  • SRCS requests stopped and INFO Express stopped.
  • Meeting room reservations canceled.
  • Programs canceled until farther notice.
  • Mail will be collected, book drop will be emptied, and facilities will be checked several times a week.
  • Public services still available: Overdrive and social media.
  • Virtual programming will be attempted.

Phase 2 – Staff returns to work.

  • Mail will be collected, book drop will be emptied, and facilities checked as normal.
  • Public services still available: Overdrive and social media.
  • Possibly start curb side service.
  • Virtual programming will be offered.
  • Man phones & answer questions.
  • Staff is trained on protective measures and how library services will be provided.
  • Arrange circulation area and rest of building to provide curb side services.

Phase 3 – Partial Opening

  • Public services still available: Overdrive and social media.
  • Virtual programming offered.
  • Curb side services with limited hours. 
  • Fax & copy services; material dropped off & staff provides service.  When ready patron notified and can pick up material.  Payment received when material dropped off.
  • Computers by appointment only.  No help given.

Phase 4 – Library Open with limitations.

  • Public services still available: Overdrive and social media.
  • Virtual programming offered.
  • Staff prepares building for reopening; posts signage and changes layout of furniture, computers, incompliance to the social distancing recommendations and limit loitering.
  • Open with reduced or normal hours.  Special hours for our more susceptible patrons.
  • Public allowed entrance with limitations; number allowed, limit on time in building (each patron receives a timer), social distancing.  Need appointments?  No children without parent/guardian present. Barrier for front desk?
  • SRCS requests and INFO Express started back up.
  • Fax & copy services; material dropped off & staff provides service.  When ready patron notified and can pick up material.  Payment received when material dropped off.
  • Computers by appointment only.  No help given or limited.
  • Community room and study rooms not open.

Phase 5 – Enhanced services

  • Meeting room opens for reservations.
  • Patron use of library will no longer be monitored

Phase 6 – Return to before COVID-19 services

  • Close one day to return library furniture back to normal, remove signage…
  • Open library to full function & no restrictions
  • In house programming resumed.
  • Maybe a party?

Note 1:  Phases are fluid.  They may be short or long.  Phases may be skipped and may jump backwards at times.  This all depends on what is happening with the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Note 2:  Summer Reading will fall somewhere in these phases. It will be adopted to whatever phase we are in.
